It was therefore the idea of Rose Spiess to initiate small projects to support people in developing countries effectively by small steps.

Rose Spiess has especially thought of women in these countries: She has learned that women in particular are very inventive in emergency situations and find innovative solutions to existing problems. But often women lack the encouragement to approach those problems in unconventional ways. In Rose’s opinion especially young women in universities, but also in women’s cooperatives and other environments should be encouraged and motivated. However, it would have been in the sense of Rose Spiess to support also young men who are effectively and efficiently developing and introducing measures to improve the situation of people in developing countries.

Another important thought of Rose Spieß was to support and motivate young scientists from developing countries. That is why the Rose-Spiess Foundation sees itself as a foundation that is particularly committed to woman and young scientists.

Before these backgrounds, the idea of the Rose-Spiess-Foundation is to recognize, promote and raise the awareness for initiatives which are committed to the improvement of food supply in developing countries. The Foundation is striving to implement those initiatives with modest means and in small steps. The Foundation is donating various forms the „Rose Spiess Award for a Sustainable Food Supply.“ Young scientists are invited to participate in the competition for this award at all stages of their training.
